Peggy was born and raised in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, now raising her children and grandchildren here in Inuvik.
Peggy's mother was an amazing seamstress who started sewing at the age of 9 years old. Whilst Peggy originally had no interest in sewing until she was married with her own children. After the passing of her mother, Peggy took the time to learn to sew because her mom was always making their traditional clothing.
When she passed away with the guidance of her mother in law Maggie Day, Peggy finally learnt and is still learning today with the guidance of Brian Rogers. Sitting and sewing or beading brings so much respect for culture and the countless hours it takes to put into traditional clothing and jewelry. Just to sit and visit or be quiet and remember. Teaching a young lady her words are so true. She would often say, "Peggy this is better than meditating!"
